Support for In-Memory Row Storage (IMRS) feature

From the 9.1.00 release, from ASE 16 SP03, BMC SQL-BackTrack supports In-Memory Row Storage (IMRS) feature for databases and tables. You can back up and recover IMRS database and tables. You can also back up and recover tables and databases having the Data Row Caching or Snapshot Isolation option enabled for them.

See the following points to know more details about the backup and recovery support for IMRS databases:

  • Physical and logical backup and recovery
  • Logical object level backup and recovery
  • Remote host recovery
  • Database recovery while creating a duplicate database

Prerequisites for using IMRS databases

  1. Configure the following parameters for enabling IMRS at the server level:
    mem scale
    in-memory row storage
  2. IMRS cache and imrslog devices must be created and must not be in use by another database.

Limitations for using IMRS databases

  1. For performing Remote Host Recovery (RHR ) for IMRS databases, user must have same imrslog devices and IMRS cache present on the target server and they must not be in use by another database.
  2. For duplicating an IMRS database, user must have same imrslog devices and IMRS cache present on the target server and they must not be in use by another database.
  3. When there is a change in the structure of an IMRS database, user must do copyover recovery.
