What's new in SQL-BackTrack for Oracle


Support for logical extraction of multitenant databases

From the 9.1.10 release, BMC SQL-BackTrack supports logical extraction of multitenant databases. For more information, please refer BMC Recovery Manager for Databases: BMC SQL-BackTrack User Guide for Oracle.

Support for TNS registration for pluggable databases

From the 9.1.10 release, BMC SQL-BackTrack Supports for Export profile creation/modification, DB synchronization, Logical Backup (Export), Logical recovery (Import), if Pluggable db is registered on non-default listener Port (i.e. other than 1521 listener port). New prompt as below has been added in export profile creation. For more information, see the BMC Recovery Manager for Databases: BMC SQL-BackTrack User Guide for Oracle.

Enter the port number of the listener on which database '<pluggable database name>' is registered : [1521]

Alternatively, you can also specify command line argument [-pdb_listener_port <listener port>] in export profile creation with dtooptcreate.

Support for OS authentication for export from pluggable databases

From the 9.1.10 release, BMC SQL-BackTrack supports OS authentication for export from pluggable databases. For more information, see the BMC Recovery Manager for Databases: BMC SQL BackTrack User Guide for Oracle.

Enhancement for change in Database Identifier (DBID) after creating a duplicate database

From the 9.1.10 release, BMC SQL-BackTrack changes the Database Identifier (DBID) after creating a duplicate database. If you do not want to change the DBID after creating a duplicate database, set the ctl parameter enable_dbnewid_utility before duplicating a database.

Note that restart is not supported during the DBID change operation. In case there is an interruption during this step, user needs to execute the remaining operation manually. The operation could be changing the DBID using NID command and reverting tablespaces to original state, you can refer log files for additional detail.

Support for retained backup for different pools or poolgroup

From the 9.1.10 release, BMC SQL-BackTrack supports retained backup for different pools or poolgroups by allowing selection into a retained backup menu. For more information, please refer BMC Recovery Manager for Databases: BMC SQL-BackTrack User Guide for Oracle.

Support for Netbackup client version 8.1.2

BMC Recovery Manager Module for Symantec Netbackup version 4.0.14 is certified for Netbackup client version 8.1.2.

Support for new platform

From the 9.1.10 release, BMC SQL-BackTrack supports the following new platforms.

  • Oracle 19c on Redhat Linux version 8.x for ASM databases
  • Oracle 18c and 19c on HP-IA version 11.31
  • Oracle 19c on Microsoft Windows Server 2019

Platforms decommissioned from this release

From the release 9.1.10, BMC SQL-BackTrack decommissions platform as below :

  • Microsoft Windows Server 2008 and 2008R2
  • AIX 6.1
