Setting environment variables for language support

To run BMC SQL-BackTrack using one of the non-English locales, perform the following steps:

  1. Check the LANG environment variable for your operating system and code page in the following tables.

    Language

    Reference

    U.S. English

    Simplified Chinese

    Traditional Chinese

    Japanese

    Korean

  2. Identify the NLS_LANG value that corresponds to the LANG value for your operating system and code page.
  3. If the value of your NLS_LANG environment variable does not match the value that you identified in step 2, change your NLS_LANG environment variable to that value.

    Warning

Both variables must use the correct values. If the LANG and NLS_LANG values do not correspond, BMC SQL-BackTrack backup and recovery operations could fail.

Use the same LANG value during both backup and recovery.
