Running the Migration Advisor Tool on Linux

Prerequisite

Ensure that you have downloaded the correct Migration Advisor Tool (footprints-service-core-migration-advisor-NNbit-12.x-nn.nn.tar.gz) file, where NN is 32 or 64 for the bitness of the FootPrints 11.6.01 or later application server.

To run the Migration Advisor Tool on Linux

1. Create a directory with an appropriate name and move the footprints-service-core-migration-advisor-NNbit-12.x-nn.nn.tar.gz file to it.
   
2. Go to the command prompt and change directory to the directory that you created in step 1.

3. Extract the contents of the footprints-service-core-migration-advisor-NNbit-12.x-nn.nn.tar.gz file using a command.
   

   Example

   tar xzvf footprints-service-core-migration-advisor-NNbit-12.x-nn.nn.tar.gz

4. Make the following files executable:
   1. setup.bin
   2. jre/bin/java

5. Export the display using the command as shown below:
   

   Examples

   - export DISPLAY=:0.0

   - export DISPLAY=localhost:0.0

6.  Run the setup.bin script:
   

   ./setup.bin

   Note

   The Migration Advisor Tool displays information in a shell window before it displays the wizard's Welcome message. Do not close the shell window.

7. Browse and go to the location where FootPrints 11.6.01 or later is installed.
   

   Example

   - /usr/local/footprintsservicecore

   - /opt/footprints

8. Click Next.

   Tip

   Note down the estimated time to run the Migration Advisor Tool.

9. Click Next to start the analysis of the system.
   

After you run the Migration Advisor Tool, a Migration Advisor Report is created. 
It is saved in the following format, on the same location where FootPrints 11.6.01 or later is installed:
MigrationAdvisorReports\Analysis_yyyy-mm-dd-hh-mm.html
