Scheduling tasks

When you create a task, you select whether to run it immediately or at a specific time, and whether and when to run it again. You can also modify an existing task.

To schedule a task

  1. Select the Administration tab.
  2. In the System Management section, click Import.
The Task Scheduler page is displayed, showing a list of scheduled tasks and their status. The Job Status column identifies whether the task was completed successfully (Completed) or failed (Completed with Errors).
  3. Do either of the following:
    1. To create a task, click New Task and select an option.
For detailed information about a particular task, see the Related topics.
    2. To edit an existing task, select it in the list and click Edit.
  4. Complete the fields:
    1. In the Task Name field, replace the default task name with a name that is specific to your environment.
    2. (Optional) In the Notes field, type any comments that are useful for this task.
    3. (Optional) In the Notify by Email field, enter the email addresses of the users who should be notified when this task is completed.
You can also enter an agent's user name to send notification to the agent's primary email address. To notify multiple agents, separate their user names and email addresses with semicolons. Notification is sent about task outcome and includes result, task name, date, and so on including the number of records that were rejected, created, updated, and unchanged.
  5. In the Schedule time to load information section, define when to run this task.
Leave the settings as they are if you want to always run this task manually. Scheduling options are:
    • Immediately: The task will run as soon as you click Schedule Task.
    • Load at the following time: Select the Date, Time, and Minute.
    • Manual Only: The task is created but you must run it from the Task Scheduler.
  6. (Optional) For tasks that will be run more than once, in the Configure recurring task section:
    1. Select Repeat Task and then select a time period. Options are Daily, Weekly, and Monthly.
    2. Select the Day of Week, Time, and Minute.
For monthly tasks, if you select 31, in shorter months, the task is executed automatically on the last day of month.
  7. Click Schedule Task.
Your selections are validated by the system. If no errors are found, the Task Scheduler page displays. Status will vary depending on whether the associated files are local or remote and when the task is scheduled to run. Next Run Time is the next or first time a task will be run.
  8. To review scheduled task results, return to the Task Scheduler page and click the link in the task row to view the details.

    Note

The Run Details for imports are purged after 14 days.
