Database conversions
FootPrints can be converted from one platform and/or database to another. This is not a task to be undertaken lightly, and requires planning, time, and care. Platform- and database-specific conversion guides are available by emailing Support.
Some points to consider for a successful conversion:
- We encourage you to contact our Support Center to get the very latest guide on how to perform the conversion. The Support Center will require the following information:
- The platform on which FootPrints is installed
- The current version of your FootPrints installation
- Your current database type
- The platform to which you are upgrading
- The OS level
- New database type
- Allocate enough time for the conversion. It is best to convert on the weekend if you have several workspaces with over 10,000 issues within each of them, or a total of over 25,000 issues system-wide. If you have less, conversion could be scheduled after hours during the week.
- Set up a test machine and do a dry run. This way if you run into trouble, you can contact our support group to work through the problem without your service desk experiencing any unnecessary down time. This is a "best practices" matter. It is better to experience any problems on a test system than a production machine.
