What's new?

Service Pack 1 for version 8.5 of BMC Decision Support – Database Automation does not contain any enhancements or fixes, but updates the product to maintain version consistency with the BMC Database Automation product. This topic provides instructions for downloading and installing the service pack.

Tip

For information about knowns issues, see Known-and-corrected-issues.

Downloading and extracting the service pack

Installing Service Pack 1 installs the entire BMC Decision Support – Database Automation product. You can download the service pack files from the BMC Electronic Product Distribution (EPD) website at http://webapps.bmc.com/epd. The version number shown on EPD is 8.5.01.

Click here to see the procedure for obtaining the service pack files.

To download the files to the reporting server and the application server

  1. Create the directories in which to place the downloaded files. You need a directory on the reporting server and a directory on the application server.

    Note

On Microsoft Windows computers, ensure that the directory is only one level into the directory structure. The EPD package creates a directory in the temporary directory when you extract the files, and the directory that contains the installation image must not be in a directory deeper than two levels into the directory structure.

  2. Go to http://www.bmc.com/available/epd.html.
  3. At the login prompt, enter your user ID and password, and click Submit.
  4. On the Export Compliance and Access Terms page, provide the required information, agree to the terms of the agreements, and click Continue.
  5. If you are accessing this site for the first time, create an EPD profile to specify the languages and platforms you want to see, per the EPD site help; otherwise, skip to step 6.
  6. Verify that the correct profile is displayed for your download purpose, and select the Licensed Productstab.

If you are downloading a patch, select the Product Patches tab.

  7. Click the Go To Licensed Products View link.
  8. Expand BMC Decision Support – Database Automation to show its versions, then expand the entry for your desired platform and language to show its downloadable files.
  9. Select and download the files for the application server files as follows:
    1. Select the check boxes next to the product download files and the Read This First document.
    2. Click Download (FTP) or Download Manager:
      • Download (FTP) places the selected items in an FTP directory, and the credentials and FTP instructions are sent to you in an e-mail message.
      • Download Manager enables you to download multiple files consecutively, and to resume an interrupted download if the connection drops.
This method requires a one-time installation of the AkamiNetSession Client program on the target computer and is usually the faster and more reliable way to transfer files. A checksum is used to verify file integrity automatically.
  10. Select and download the files for the reporting server files as follows:
    1. Near the bottom of the entries locate and expand the entry for SAP Business Objects Business Intelligence Platform 4.0 Service Pack 2.
    2. Select the check boxes next to the product download files and the Read This First document.
Click here to see the procedure for extracting the service pack files.
