Removing a failed node

You can remove nodes that no longer exist, yet continue to show up in the Management Console as failed (indicated by a red node icon). You can also remove nodes from the interface that are no longer under BMC Database Automation management.

Warning

Do not remove nodes that you intend to keep under BMC Database Automation management. If you want to re-introduce the same node back under BMC Database Automation management, you must re-install the Agent on the node. After the Agent is installed, the node is visible under the Pending Approval section.

To remove a failed node

  1. Stop the Agent process that is currently running on the node as follows.
    • (Linux) Use the service dagent stop  command using the syntax appropriate for your operating system:
      • (Solaris)
        • /etc/init.d/dagent stop
        • /etc/init.d/dagent start
      • (HPUX)
        • /sbin/init.d/dagent stop
        • /sbin/init.d/dagent start
      • (AIX)
        • /etc/rc.d/rc2.d/Sdagent stop
        • /etc/rc.d/rc2.d/Sdagent start
    • (Windows) Use the Services Control panel to stop the Agent, or run the net stop dagent command from the CLI.
       The color of the icon for this node changes from green to red.
  2. From the Management Console, select the red node icon. This is the node that you want to remove. 
  3. Select Maintenance > Forget Node.

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
