Discovering databases
The following deck contains instructions for enabling discovery for the databases that are supported by BMC Database Automation:
For information about how BDA discovers Oracle clusters and databases, refer to KA348248.
For more information about Oracle Home discovery (for example, Homes with no databases running out of them), see Enabling discovery of Oracle Homes.
Microsoft SQL Server instances, databases, and Availability Groups discovered by BMC Database Automation appear in the Pending Approval section of the Management Console.
Microsoft SQL Server databases that are created outside of BMC Database Automation do not appear within the Pending Approval list until a BMC Database Automation operation is performed on the node. To have an externally-provisioned SQL Server database appear immediately within the Pending Approval list, restart the associated Agent.
For more information, see Approving-SQL-Server-instances-databases-or-Availability-Groups.
For more information about how BMC Database Automation discovers Sybase, see:
DB2 instances and databases discovered by BMC Database Automation display in the Pending Approval section of the Management Console. For more information, see Approving-DB2-instances.
After the nodes have been discovered, they must be approved to be managed in the BMC Database Automation environment.
