Patching tools

This section details how to run command line interface tools that are related to performing patching-related commands in BMC Database Automation. It describes the various commands related to enumeration of the patch repository, and determining prospective targets for execution of any given patch. In order to apply the patch to targets, a provisioning job is created (see Run Provisioning for more information).

Warning

Note

Although SQL Server databases have explicit provisioning job types for rolling back patches, Oracle makes use of the same Oracle::RunPatch operation with an identifier in the XML that indicates whether the patch should be applied or rolled back.

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
