Approving VCS clusters
BMC Database Automation can manage nodes running the Symantec Veritas Cluster Services (VCS) high availability solution. The Agent detects databases configured as VCS resources in groups that contain the local host in the system list. After approval, BMC Database Automation becomes aware of nodes running VCS and maintains constant status of the databases in the cluster. For instance, should a failover occur, BMC Database Automation is aware of the change and knows which node is running the database. If a previously detected database is removed from VCS, the Agent no longer displays it after the next auto detection. Detection of VCS resources occurs when the Agent starts, and after most provisioning events. To update the Management Console, click Maintenance > Rescan Cluster.
To approve a VCS cluster
- Select Pending Approval > Hosts from within the Context Frame.
A list of the hosts and clusters that are available for approval appears. Clusters are identified in the Hosts Pending Approval list as follows.
- In the Hosts Pending Approval page, check the boxes located next to the nodes that you want to approve, and click Next.
- In the Approve page, enter a name for this VCS cluster in the Cluster Name box and click Approve.
A success message appears. - Click Done.
After a VCS cluster is approved, databases that are running on this cluster now appear in the Databases Pending Approval list.
