Creating an instance of SQL Server
This section describes how to create an instance of Microsoft SQL Server on an existing node.
- Creating an instance of SQL Server 2008 on a node
- Creating an instance of SQL Server 2005 or 2000 on a node
The following restrictions apply to the creation of an SQL Server instance:
- An SQL Server 2000 standalone instance cannot be created on an SQL Server cluster.
- Mixing 32-bit and 64-bit SQL Server instances on the same node or cluster is not supported.
After you complete configuration and BMC Database Automation begins to create the SQL Server instance, the process occurs in the order listed:
- Upload media
- Run pre-provisioning scripts
- Create SQL Server instance
- Run post-provisioning scripts
- Apply patches
- Run final script
Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
