Creating a Sybase Replication Server

This topic describes how to create a Sybase Replication Server by using BMC Database Automation.

Before you begin

  • A node is available to be used for provisioning.
  • The node meets all of the system requirements defined in the Sybase installation documentation for the Replication Server.
  • Sybase Replication Server media is mounted on the node as described in Sybase media location requirements.

To create a Sybase Replication Server

  1. From the Management Console, select the node on which you want to create a Sybase Replication Server.
  2. Select Provision > Add Sybase Repserver.
  3. In the Naming page, provision the following fields, and click Next. The [confluence_table-plus] macro is a standalone macro and it cannot be used inline.
  4. If the Custom Fields page appears, enter the password, and click Next.
The Custom Fields page appears only when custom fields are defined in the BMC Database Automation XML template used for this provisioning activity. See Adding custom fields to a template.
  5. If BMC Database Automation discovers an existing home on the host for the Sybase version selected, either select an existing home for the Replication Server or select Create New Home in the Use Existing Home page, and click Next.
If you selected an existing home that already has Sybase Replication Server installed in it, the wizard skips to the ID Server Configuration step. If you selected Create New Home or an existing ASE home with no Sybase Replication Server installed in it, the Settings step appears.
