Removing a node from an existing clustered SQL Server instance
This topic describes how to remove a node from an existing clustered Microsoft SQL Server instance. Only nodes that are in a passive state can be removed.
To remove a node from a clustered SQL Server instance
- From the Management Console, navigate to the clustered instance that contains the node that you want to remove, and select that node host.
- Select Provision > Remove from SQL Server Instance.
- In the General page, review the information, and click Next.The [confluence_table-plus] macro is a standalone macro and it cannot be used inline.
In the Configuration page, enter the domain, user name and password of an administrative user account in the Remote Account Information section, and click Next.
- In the Custom Scripts Configuration page, select pre-provisioning and post-provisioning scripts as follows, and click Next.The [confluence_table-plus] macro is a standalone macro and it cannot be used inline.
- In the Job Options page, specify any of the following Job options, and click Next.The [confluence_table-plus] macro is a standalone macro and it cannot be used inline.
If the Change Control page displays, provision the following fields, and click Next.The [confluence_table-plus] macro is a standalone macro and it cannot be used inline.
- In the Summary page, review the provisioning information.
To make changes, do the following:- Click Go to to return to the provisioning step that you want to edit.
- Make your changes.
- Click Save and Review to return to the Summary page.
- Specify your verification preferences.
For additional information, see Understanding pre-verification tests.- To continue with database creation after the pre-verification tests have been successfully run without manual intervention, select Automatically Continue If All Tests Succeed.
To create the database without having first run the pre-verification steps, select Skip Pre-Verification Tests.
- Click Remove Node.
You see a progress page and a success message after the process completes.
