Creating SQL Server reports
You can create the following types of reports about Microsoft SQL Server databases:
- Comparison Report
- Database File Report: Compares the database files of SQL Server databases.
- Instance Initialization Parameter Report: Compares the initialization parameters of SQL Server instances.
- Timeline Report
- Database File Report: Tracks database file changes over time for a specific SQL Server database.
- Instance Initialization Parameter Report: Tracks initialization parameter changes over time for a specific SQL Server database.
To create an SQL Server comparison report
This section describes how to create an SQL database comparison report, by using the Database File Report type as an example. The steps to create other types of SQL Server comparison reports are essentially the same.
- From the Context Frame, select Reports > SQL Server Reports > Comparison Reports > Database File Report.
- In the Database File Report page, select the entities that you want to compare.
- Specify the point-in-time that you want this report to show, and click Next.
For the current time, leave the settings as they are. - Select a reference for the report, or select the Do not use a reference option.
When a reference is selected, the other two entities are compared against the selection, and the differences are highlighted in the report. - Click Run.
To create an SQL Server timeline report
This section describes how to create an SQL Server database timeline report, using the Database File Report type as an example. The steps to create other types of SQL Server timeline reports are essentially the same.
- From the Context Frame, select Reports > SQL Server Reports > Timeline Reports > Database File Report.
- In the Database File Report page, select the entities that you want to work with.
- Specify the point-in-time that you want this report to show.
For the current time, leave the settings as they are. - Click Run.
Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
