This section provides answers to frequently asked questions (FAQs) about BMC Helix Cloud Security BMC Helix Cloud Security.

Can I install Cloud Security on a Windows computer?

BMC Helix Cloud Security is a SaaS-based hosted service and does not need installation. You need to configureBMC Helix Cloud SecurityBMC Helix Cloud Security BMC Helix Cloud Securityfor collecting data from your desired targets. Data connectors used for collecting various types of data can be installed on Windows. For more information, see System requirements.

Can I configure multiple connectors for simultaneous data collection?

Yes, you can configure multiple connectors that collect data from various sources. For more information, see Collecting data.

For how long would my data be seen on the UI?

 You can see your data on the UI for 90 days.

What information is searchable from the search bar?
  • Keyword search: Exactly match the text that you want to find on a specific page
  • Advanced search: Search for resources, violations, and other metrics from the Search bar located in the top navigation bar across the product/all the screens.
Can I customize the content of an existing policy?

Yes, you can customize the content of an existing policy. 

Can I add my own policy?

Yes, you can add your own policy. Use the "Custom connector" that is bundled with BMC Helix Cloud Security.

Can I configure resources to be evaluated against specific policies?

Yes, you can configure resources to be evaluated against specific policies.

Do I need to have a policy configured for each connector?

Yes, you must have a policy for each connector.

Why can I not view my data on the Dashboard?

You might not be viewing data on the Dashboard because of one of the following reasons:

  • The connector is in the process of collecting data, which BMC Helix Cloud Security has not yet started analyzing/processing.
I've forgotten my password. How do I recover it?

Perform the following steps to recover a forgotten password:

  1. On the Login screen, click Forgot Password?.
  2. On the Forgot your password dialog box, specify an email address that BMC Helix Cloud Security will use to send a link to create the new password.
  3. Click Continue.
  4. In the email that you receive, click the link.
  5. Enter a new password and confirm the same.
  6. Click Reset Password.

Once your password is reset successfully, you receive an email confirming the same.

I want to enable/disable my connector. How do I do it?


My connector shows "Suspended". What does that mean?

When the connector does not send a heartbeat at a specified interval informing BMC Helix Cloud Security about its current status, the connector displays as "Suspended".
