Messages generated in response to an HSM command
When you issue commands against data sets, summary message text is displayed.
Example of messages generated in response to an HSM command
COMMAND ===>
CURR WIN ===> 1 ALT WIN ===>
W1 =WBSL==============SYSA=====*========YYYY/MM/DD=
SVWW0240I Data Sets Failed Processing: 0
SVWW0241I Data Sets Successfully Processed: 0
SVWW0242I Commands Successfully Issued with No Wait: 1
The messages indicate the success or failure of the command:
- The first message displays a count of data sets (rows) that failed processing.
- The second message displays a count of data sets that were successfully processed. In the case of DFSMShsm commands that have the option of WAIT or NO WAIT, this count is reflects the data sets where the option to WAIT YES (Y) was selected in the confirmation dialog and where the command executed to a successful completion.
- The third message displays a count of data sets where the option to WAIT NO (N) was selected in the confirmation dialog and where the command was issued successfully.
For example, the following figure shows the messages that would be displayed if the following conditions existed:
- You tagged 10 rows in a view for processing.
- You issued the HMI (HSM Migrate) primary command.
- In 5 of the 10 confirmation dialogs, you selected WAIT Yes; in the others, you selected WAIT No.

W1 =WBSL==============SYSA=====*========2003/10/22=
SVWW0240I Data Sets Failed Processing: 0
SVWW0241I Data Sets Successfully Processed: 5
SVWW0242I Commands Successfully Issued with No Wait: 5
The reason for the distinction is to provide accurate information. In the case where NO WAIT is the option selected, as the option implies, no waiting is done for the result of the commands action. Therefore, the only information available is the success or failure of the issuance of the command itself.
Messages related to the failure of processing a data set or of failure in issuing a command will display prior to these 3 messages.
In data set commands not involving HSM commands the Commands Successfully Issued with No Wait message will not displayed. In data set commands involving DFSMShsm where the WAIT option is not available in the confirmation dialog, the command will be issued with WAIT NO.
For the HSMCMD, HSMTAGC, SVOSCMD, SVOSTAGC, SYSCMD, and SYSTAGC commands, response messages that are related to the command are displayed (when applicable) if SVESA is active. If SVESA is not active, the command executes but no response is returned. For example, if you use SYSCMD and enter the D J,L (display jobs) command, the list of jobs is displayed.
