Partial volume and pool collection on non-master VTOC Scans
Partial scans significantly reduce scan time by eliminating some of the extensive processing that is required when collecting volume and pool statistics. You can specify partial collection by using the SMVSCF xx PARTIALSCAN keyword, with the following exceptions: partial collection is not allowed on the VTOC Scan master or when building data set records.
When PARTIALSCAN=YES, the following information is not collected and is not available from the VTOC Scan reports:
Volume Records
- Idle space
- Used extents
- Largest used extent
- VVDS size and PCT full
- Smallest DS size
- EAS DS count
- BAS and EAS values for:
- Used extents
- Idle space
- Largest used extent
- DSNTYPE counts and sizes
- Group and Pools, Physical Disk, Boxes, Summary Records
- Used extents
- Largest used extent
- VVDS PCT full HWM & LWM
- EAS DS count
- BAS and EAS values for: used extents, idle space, largest used extent, used extents HWM & LWM
- Total and SMS Status values for:
- Used space
- Idle space
- Smallest DS size
- DS count
- PO count and size
- PS count and size
- VSAM count and size
- DSNTYPE counts and sizes
Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
