UPSTREAM Messages

This chapter lists the messages that are contained in the UPSTREAM message file (UPSTREAM.MSG). Note that UPSTREAM usually logs several messages simultaneously.

UPSTREAM messages usually contain:

  • A number, starting at 1001
  • A severity letter, ( How Messages are Displayed)
  • A single line title
  • Additional lines of text describing the message
  • A FIX, which describes the action that you may take to help resolve the problem

Many UPSTREAM messages have a fix that says to “See additional messages”. Often these additional messages refer you to return codes from the APPC software (TCP/IP Messages), the operating system (Operating System Messages) or some other source (database vendor doc, etc.). When encountering messages of this type, please contact BMC Support an interpretation and recommended action in these cases.
