ABR’s
 incremental backup & recovery

ABR automates the backup of DASD volumes. Data sets are automatically backed up when updated. ABR incremental backups can save you 50-80% of your backup time compared to DFSMShsm.

  • Data Set Restore - ABR can automatically recover data sets from the most current or older backups. Entire DASD volumes can be recreated as if a full volume backup was taken the prior night.

ABR’s archive & auto recall

  • Multi-Level Archive - ABR can simultaneously archive data sets to DASD and tape. The data is stored in backup format, which generally requires significantly less space on DASD than originally used. The data is retained on DASD for a short user-specified time period, and is then automatically deleted by ABR, leaving the tape copy for a longer retention period.
  • Auto Recall - ABR automatically recalls archived data sets when they are referenced by a TSO or BATCH user.
