DSF Unlike Device Examples
Examples of DSF unlike device restores are found in the JCL library installed with FDR. The member names are EX2014x.
DSF can restore almost all types of data sets to a “unlike” DASD device using a “logical” restore; for example, 3380 data sets can be restored to 3390 DASD. Logical restore is automatically invoked when the output device type of a given data set differs from the type of DASD backed up. Special Considerations can be found in Special Considerations and in member UNLIKE in the FDR Installation FDRSAMP. For VSAM in particular, refer to member VSAMUNLK in the Installation FDRSAMP for considerations on restoring clusters to smaller DASD (3390 to 3380). Many of the examples in the preceding sections will work even if the output DASD type is different from the type of DASD backed up.
