Policy interval (default definitions)

All policy intervals collect data. In the case of the default intervals, one interval collects pool and volume data, and the other interval collects data set information.

Both have a start time and are set to run every day on any system where the policy is active. Their initial status is active, which means they will execute without intervention. Neither has a defined start date, end time, or end date; consequently, the start date is the day on which they are activated, and they never expire. The collection and logging occur at the defined start time (or calculation thereof) on the date they are first activated, on any system where the policy is defined. Because no stop times, dates, or limitations are defined, the intervals never stop, continuing to cycle at the defined interval time.

Important

Before using the default definition, you need to supply a system name. For more information, see Sysplex-considerations-when-using-policies-to-manage-pools-storage-groups-and-volumes.

The interval that collects and logs the pool and volume data has an interval time of 60 minutes and a start time of 8:10 A.M. Any pool, storage group, or volumes that are assigned to the default policy will have their data collected and logged every hour, starting at 8:10 A.M. (or a calculation thereof). Execution times for the interval are calculated from the start time by using the interval time. For this interval, the execution times would be 8:10 A.M., 9:10 A.M., 10:10 A.M., and so on through a 24-hour cycle every day.

The interval that collects and logs the data set information has an interval time of 1440 minutes and a start time of 5:30 A.M. Data set information is collected and logged at 5:30 A.M. daily for any pool, storage group, or volumes that are assigned to the default policy.
