AUTOCATA function—Catalog scan alias automation

The AUTOCATA function is used to initiate automation on the alias statistics that were gathered by the Catalog Scan ( CSCAN) command.

The AUTOCATA command causes retrieval of alias statistics from the CSCAN output data set, and runs the statistics through the AUTOCATA function FLST/RLST. With the AUTOCATA function you can:

  • Submit a job by using a skeleton tailoring facility to perform a batch process on selected data sets
  • Issue messages to a TSO session, the system log, the console, or to an automated operations package to respond to a data set condition
  • Issue system commands, HSM commands, or additional SVOS commands

This function is initiated through the AUTOCATA console command. The command can be issued manually, by time-driven rules in the BMC AMI Storage Schedule Services facility, or by an automated operations package.

Important

This function requires the existence of the Catalog Scan (CSCAN) output data set. Refer to the BMC AMI OpsReporting Reference for more information on the Catalog Scan.
