SSL/TLS overview

BMC Defender SyslogDefender provides all of the SSL/TLS features described in the following diagram. The red boxes indicate components that must be kept secret by their owners to protect the integrity of the SSL/TLS protocol to be maintained.

Note

You must have sufficient SSL/TLS expertise to use SSL/TLS features beyond the included server certificate. For example, to use CA-authenticated certificates, you must be able to operate a basic in-house CA, or obtain your signed certificates from another CA such as VeriSign or GoDaddy. BMC cannot provide SSL/TLS support beyond the configuration and operation of SyslogDefender.
