Overview of SyslogSender

SyslogSender is a syslog sender command-line utility program that is included with SyslogDefender. You can use it to test or exercise syslog collectors, including the BMC Defender Server and BMC Defender SyslogDefender programs. It sends syslog messages over UDP, TCP/IP, and SSL/TLS encrypted sessions. It supports a number of options intended primarily for diagnostic, testing, or debugging purposes. It receives its options from a configuration file and command-line switches.

An example of a SyslogSender command follows:

Example
Sender localhost:1468 Test message -t TCP

The command sends the Test message to a syslog collector on the machine listening to port 1468 through the TCP/IP transport.
