Setting scheduled alerts

The Alert Schedules tab allows the operator to automatically enable and disable alerts according to a particular scheduled time. Four schedules are furnished, selectable from the Edit screen of the Alerts > Counters screen through the Match Alert Time select menu.

To edit a scheduled alert

Navigate to Alerts > Config > Alert Schedules.

You can define and edit up to four different schedules, and then select that schedule on the Match Alert Time field of the Alerts > Counters screen. (These schedules work only with the Alerts > Counters screen.)

Each schedule is specified as a start time and a span time value.

Important

The enable for any day can only affect the specified day, and the span time rolls around the enable time to the same day. To assist with this configuration, you can view a visualization of scheduled times after clicking Edit (that is, the Schedule #NN ) for any given schedule.

Additional help for this screen exists by clicking the Alert Scheduler Help link at the top of this screen.

Alert Schedules, Additional Notes

Important

The Span Time always applies to the currently selected day, and never applies to the next day. This is consistent with other locations within the system; the Span Time wraps the schedule to the morning of the current day to permit the operator to specify a time during the day that the alert is not active (such as the last example).

This might confuse users anticipating a different behavior; to assist with a visual depiction of the scheduled time, you can click Edit and see a simple depiction of the scheduled times for the alert.

Example

Consider the situation where the alert is to be disabled from 10:00 AM to 14:00 PM (2pm) on a particular day, but otherwise enabled. In that case, the span time Hours is: 24 - (14 - 10) = 20 hours. With that particular configuration (14:00 PM + 20 Hrs), the alert is enabled at 14:00 PM until midnight, and also enabled from midnight until 10:00 AM of that same day, but is disabled at all other times during the day.
In contrast, consider the situation where the alert is to be enabled from 10am to 2pm on a particular day, but otherwise disabled. In that case, the span time is: 14 - 10 = 4 hours. The configuration in this case is just 10:00 AM + 4 Hours, that causes the alert to be enabled for 4 hours in the middle of the day, starting at 10:00 AM in the morning.

When configuring these schedules, it might be helpful to use the visualization for the schedule time furnished as part of the Edit screen for each schedule. This is available by clicking Edit on the Advanced Schedules screen for a particular schedule.
