Configuring the NMAP.exe program

The actual NMAP program that gathers network information resides in the installationDirectory\nmap folder, with all documentation included in the GNU package. Replace installationDirectory with the directory in which you installed the product. The default directory is C:\Program Files\BMC Software\BMC Defender. (The BMC Defender Server does not use most of these files that are installed with the system to permit the user to extend the range of NMAP functions, or to perform other custom alerting and scripting on the system.)

The NMAP.exe program is launched using the installationDirectory\gen-nmap.bat file. Generally, no particular configuration is required to begin using the NMAP.exe program. However, the user can inspect and configure the installationDirectory\GEN-NMAP.bat file to tailor the operation of the system, and perform other scheduled activities.
