Installing BMC Defender Agent for Windows

The BMC Defender Agent for Windows product is delivered as a self-extracting WinZip file that contains installer and uninstaller programs residing in the wintools directory of the BMC Defender root directory. The installer program starts after the files get extracted. To uninstall the system, the operator accesses the Windows Add or Remove programs application and clicks the BMC Defender Framework entry.

The default location is C:\Program Files\BMC Software\BMC Defender, but you can specify a different directory when you extract files.

You can uninstall the product through the standard Windows Add or Remove programs screen. Additionally, if you stop a BMC Syslog Message service, you can drag the entire BMC Defender directory can be dragged and dropped into the Windows recycle bin, that effectively discards the entire installation. However, the service entry for BMC remains within the Windows Service Manager that is generally cleaned up by the uninstallation procedure.
