The

BMC Defender Agent for Unix/Linux

is a compact set of software tools that provide special syslog functions on Unix, Linux, and z/Linux platform systems. These functions augment the native syslog capability generally found on UNIX platforms, such as monitoring streaming log files, file object existence, and syslog message encryption.

The agent is lightweight and easy to install. Specific packages are included to support various Unix platforms, including (but not limited to) Linux, z/Linux, Oracle Solaris, HPUX, and IBM AIX. You can download the packages and versions from the BMC Defender home screen. The appropriate UNIX agent program is transferred to specific UNIX platforms of interest in an organization or enterprise.

Network managers and administrators who are responsible for installing and maintaining BMC Defender Server can start immediately at Quick-start. Developers can use this software as a basis for larger enterprise management strategies.
