CO-logmon configuration file

The CO-logmon configuration file (CO-logmon.cnf) contains all the parameters and specifications related to the CO-logmon program's operation. You can find this file in the same directory as the CO-logmon program, by default /opt/BMC Defender or /usr/local/BMC Defender. For an example of this file, see Example-of-CO-logmon-cnf.

During installation, the root administrator must edit this file to specify the location of the BMC Defender Server. To fine-tune the parameters of the syslog messages, or monitor new streaming log files, edit the file by using either a standard text editor or the remote configuration functions of BMC Defender Server:

  • If you edit the file manually, you must stop and then restart CO-logmon. Any errors detected during the process of reading the configuration file are logged to CO-logmon.log, which is in the same directory as CO-logmon.cnf
  • If you edit by using a remote configuration operation, you do not need to restart CO-logmon.
