Integrating

BMC Defender Agent for Windows is already an embedded part of the main BMC Defender installation package and does not need to be installed on the same platform as the BMC Defender Server (except if you want to direct the event log messages to another syslog server). By default, the CO-sysmsg.exe program, that monitors the event logs, is installed as part of the base BMC Defender system. CO-sysmsg.exe directs messages to the local host (that is, to the locally running copy of the BMC Defender Server).

BMC Defender Agent for Windows software contains one special feature that can be used only with BMC Defender, that is, the data encryption functions of the software. You can enable data encryption of syslog messages between the BMC Defender Agent for Windows and BMC Defender Server for those situations that might warrant this (such as sending messages across a public internet). More information on the data encryption function is included in syslog message server configuration file in this section.
