Configuring Session Monitor

Session Monitor includes a Guided Configuration program for configuring the Session Monitor product and validating the installation. If you need to modify your configuration later, return to the Guided Configuration to run any needed automated tasks. Parameter changes can be accomplished by directly editing the HSCM PARMLIB member. Steps for configuring the products are detailed in Session Monitor Installation and Configuration Guide. Expanded information about the configuration steps is included in this section.

Important

  • If you are installing from media as described in Installing from Session Monitor EP Media with SMP/E install using ISPF, the files required must be uploaded to the mainframe before beginning configuration. You can find instructions for doing this in BMC Installer Mainframe Products SMP/E Installation.
  • All installation steps are applicable to z/OS.
  • Certain features of the Performance Test/Eclipse plug-in can be used with Session Monitor. To use Performance Test/Eclipse, you must first install the Host Communications Interface (HCI). Installing the HCI is not part of the Session Monitor Guided Configuration. For information on how to install the HCI and Performance Test/Eclipse, see Enterprise Common Components Installation and Configuration Guide and Workbench for Eclipse Installation Guide.
  • It is not necessary to run Performance Test/Eclipse from the Workbench for Eclipse; you can run it from your own Eclipse environment.
