Start and stop statistics monitoring

Monitoring can be started by issuing the MONITOR command either through the HSCM PARMLIB member or via a MODIFY command. Monitoring can be stopped by issuing the MONITOR command via a MODIFY command. Results of monitoring can be written to a JES or DASD data set. STATS and STATSOFF control the output generation.

Statistics are generated when either the Statistics Monitor is activated (MONITOR) or when STATS has been issued and an Archive Recording request is active. Monitoring allows capture without requiring that a request be active.

Monitoring can be terminated via the MONITOR command, however statistics will still be collected if a STATS was performed and an Archive Recording request is active. Also, if monitoring is active and STATS was not performed, STASTICS will still be generated without CYCLE processing for online viewing only.
