Master and server address spaces

BMC AMI Security Policy Manager requires one master address space and one SPM server address space for each LPAR.

The master address space loads the dataspace with checkpoint data and also installs and initializes the BMC AMI Resident Security Server (RSS) SMF exits and data structures required for SPM processing. You connect to the product through the SPM server address space.

The following diagram displays master and server address spaces:

The BMC AMI Security Policy Manager environment requires one master address space installed on the same LPAR as one SPM server address space because each system has its own SMF data. The two instances communicate through XCF and by using the RSSID parameter in the JCL.

Within a sysplex, SPM instances support cooperative processing and provide a centralized view across the sysplex.
