End-to-end deployment process overview

Review the key features

Plan and design

  • System programmer
  • Security administrator
  • Evaluate system requirements.
  • Plan user permissions, privileges, and system access and authentication. Identify who will administer the system and the user roles.
  • Make sure that you have network connections and permissions for FTP or IND$FILE transfer.

Downloading and preparing files for installation

System programmer

  • Download the BMC AMI Resident Security Server (RSS) product suite.

    Important

    To install more than one product, download the product suite only once. Likewise, to add another product at a later time, do not download the RSS suite again.

    You control product activation with license keys.

  • Download the latest product SPE and patches to your computer.
  • On the mainframe, preallocate a data set to receive the XMIT file from your computer.
  • On the mainframe, run the RECEIVE command to transmit the XMIT file to the data set.

Installing and configuring the component and products

System programmer

  • Install the product, SPEs, and patches.
  • Configure the product.
