)-based products are part of the 

RSS

 product suite. 

RSS

 is the infrastructure component that is automatically installed with the product. The RSS product suite provides improved performance, and Reliability, Availability, and Serviceability (RAS) by using a single, common infrastructure and installation framework for all RSS products. You need to download the product suite only once. You control product activation with a license key.

Before you begin

  • Perform the tasks in Preparing-for-installation to download the latest SPE.
    If you are upgrading more than one product, download the latest SPE only once. Likewise, if you want to install another product, do not download the suite or SPE again.
    You control product activation with license keys.
  • Rename the hlq.RSSPARM library or create a backup of the file.
    Warning

    The hlq.RSSSAMP library is overwritten after you upgrade the product. Rename the hlq.RSSPARM library or create a backup of the file before you upgrade your system.


To upgrade a product

  1. Install the latest SPE for the RSS 2.3 product suite as described in Installing.
  2. After you complete the installation, enable new started task procedures based on your prior started tasks.
  3. Review your prior RSSPARM (RSMPARM) content for each licensed product. Make sure that all applicable custom and modified parameters are included in the new RSSPARM data set created during the RSS 2.3 install.
  4. Update the BMCPSWD ddname in the new procedures.

Important

If you choose not to create new started task procedures, you must change all SYSPRINT allocations to RSSPRINT in your existing PROCs.
