Verifying the installation

You can start the product to verify the installation, and then log on to the product.

As described in this topic, BMC AMI Security Self Service Password Reset has a different logon.

To start the product

To start the product, use a standard MVS start command:

S productName

Replace productName with the name of the member that you copied from the RSSSAMP library to your procedure library, for example, RSSPROC.

For BMC AMI Enterprise Connector for Venafi, start the gateway and agents in the same way, with the S productName command, and the following start options:

  • The gateway does not require a cold or warm start option.
  • The agent state information is automatically deleted during EC for Venafi processing so you do not need to cold start the gateway.

For all products, if error messages are written to the MVS console, contact BMC Support with the JESMSGLG, JESYSMSG, and RSSPRINT files.

After you start the product, authorized users can log on through a browser to the HTTP port. If you require a secure environment, use AT-TLS, as documented by IBM.

To log on to the product

In a browser, enter one of the following URLs according to your environment:

  • http://hostName:portNumber (for unencrypted connections)
  • https://hostName:portNumber (for encrypted connections that are configured with AT-TLS)

For SSPR, enter one of the following URLs:

  • http://hostName:portNumber/sspr/ (for unencrypted connections)
  • https://hostName:portNumber/sspr/ (for encrypted connections)

Replace hostName with the name or IP address of the system on which the product is running.

Replace portNumber with the number specified on the port parameter in the configuration data set.

Important

If your computer uses a proxy server for access, you must add an exception for the IP address and port number if one is not already available.

The log-on screen is displayed when the connection is made. Users that have the required external security manager (ESM) permissions can log in with their usual mainframe user ID and password.

For SSPR, the log-on screen is displayed as follows:
