Planning for customization
To customize BMC AMI Datastream after installation, you must have the following information:
- The IP address of your BMC AMI Datastream or other syslog console.
The port address (if it is not the standard syslog default, port 514).
Ensure that:
- Your BMC AMI Datastream or other syslog console is running.
- You can view captured syslog messages.
- You are authorized to add cataloged procedures to your SYS1.PROCLIB concatenation.
To use the full BMC AMI Datastream product, not only CZASEND, you must have a data set with authorized program facility (APF) authorization.
You might need the authority to update members of your SYS1.PARMLIB concatenation.
To test BMC AMI Datastream, you must have the authority to issue z/OS console commands. To determine if you have this authority, in SDSF (any panel), type /D IPLINFO. If you receive about ten lines of response detailing the last initial program load (IPL), you have the authority to issue console commands. If you receive an error message, you do not.
