Logging in to the web interface
Before you begin
Ensure that your computer has access to the BMC Defender Server. Contact your system administrator.
Contact your product administrator for your login information.
To configure the proxy settings for Internet Explorer
Your Internet Explorer browser might require proxy configuration to access the BMC Defender Server.
Open the browser and navigate to Tools > Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings > Advanced, and access the Internet Explorer Proxy settings dialog. For more information, contact your system administrator.
To log in to the BMC Defender Server web interface
- Open the login page to the BMC Defender Server web interface in one of the following ways:
- Click the BMC Defender desktop shortcut to launch a web browser.
The desktop shortcut appears only on the desktop of the specific user who installed the software. - Open a web browser and enter the URL of the application.
If a port number other than the default (80) is used, the URL must include the port number.
Valid value is https://bmcServer:portNumber .
- Click the BMC Defender desktop shortcut to launch a web browser.
- Perform one of the following steps:
- If your BMC Defender Server instance is not configured to your enterprise SSO provider, enter your user name and password, and click Login.
If your BMC Defender Server instance is configured to your enterprise SSO provider, but you are not logged on to your SSO provider, you are either redirected to your SSO provider's log in page or to the BMC Defender Server. Perform one of the following steps:
- If you arrive on the BMC Defender Server log in page, click the Sign In Via SSO link. On your SSO provider's log in page, log in by using your SSO provider credentials.
- If you are redirected to your SSO provider's log in page, log in by using your SSO provider credentials.
After successful authentication, you are redirected to and logged on to the BMC Defender Server user interface.
- If your BMC Defender Server instance is configured to your enterprise SSO provider and you are logged on to your SSO provider, you are automatically logged on to BMC Defender Server.
