Utility screens

Throughout the system, BMC Defender Server provides various hyperlinks to different areas of the product. These utility links provide rapid access to related items and screens. For example, to search for messages using the reporting facility, click the Run Query hyperlink (located in the upper-right area of the screen) to immediately navigate to the Reports > Query screen. Likewise, when you supply an address group in any BMC Defender Server input box, a link immediately navigates to the Go To Address Groups screen, where you can configure or inspect an address group. The hyperlinks are usually distinguished by trailing ellipses or follow a naming convention such as Go To n. The hyperlinks indicate that the main navigation tabs of the product might change if you click the link.

Other hyperlinks, such as those described in this section, usually operate within the specific context of the current tabs. For example, when you click an IP address anywhere in the product, you can see the Device Information screen without changing the tabs or current navigation context. Similarly, you can view the message details associated with any message, and retain the current navigation tab settings.

This section presents utility screens that are accessed from various locations independent of the BMC Defender Server tabbed navigation system, without changing the navigation context. These screens provide general utility in describing data items, and are accessed through hyperlinks from various locations.
