Deployment types


BMC Defender Server can operate in various modes, including stand-alone, single-tier, and multiple-tier configurations. The deployment type can determine the level of effort needed to deploy and operate the system, ranging from a simple unattended mode of operation to large enterprise management of millions of devices. The deployment type is based upon the organization's specific objectives.

Use this deployment in a small environment, such as for a small office or business, or a single department.

One administrator runs a manual deployment.

One person runs management and operational activities, too.

1 BMC Defender Server

100 to 30,000 managed nodes

Use this deployment to manage a many different nodes, such as for a small-to-medium business that spans several offices and departments.

Typically, one or two administrators run a manual deployment of BMC Defender Server and an automated deployment of agents.

One dedicated person runs management and operational activities.

2 to 100 BMC Defender Servers

200 to 100,000 managed nodes

Use this deployment to manage a small or large number of different nodes, such as for a medium-to-large business that spans several offices and geographical locations.

Typically, several administrators run a manual deployment of BMC Defender Server instances and an automated deployment of agents.

Several people run management and operational activities.

100 to 30,000 BMC Defender Servers

200 to 1,000,000+ managed nodes

Use this deployment to manage many different BMC Defender Server instances, each managing a small-to-large number of nodes, such as for a large enterprise that spans many offices and geographical locations.

Several administrators run an automated deployment of BMC Defender Server instances and an automated deployment of agents.

Several dedicated people run management and operational activities.
