Using graph pages
When you draw a graph and close it, Visualizer automatically stores that graph on a graph page from which you can access and store the graph information. If you don't want to put the graph on a graph page, you must delete it.
Visualizer can associate an unlimited number of graph pages with a project or template. Due to a Windows constraint, you can only open a limited number of pages at one time. When you reach the limit, Windows prompts you to close individual graphs or pages.
To select the graph pages you want to display, select Window from the menu bar. You can select from All Pages, Page N (specific pages), and More Pages.
When you save a project or a template, graphs on pages are saved along with any graphs on the main window. For more information, see Working-with-projects-and-templates.
Creating graph pages
You can create graph pages in three ways.
Automatically—The first time you draw a graph for a new project and close it, Visualizer creates a new page and puts the graph on that page. Visualizer puts all closed graphs on the same page until it's full. Once a page is full, Visualizer creates a new page with the same page layout for subsequent graphs.
The layout and number of graphs on a page depend on the selection you make on the Page Layout menu. For example, the default page layout is 3 by 3 Landscape, which creates a page with nine graph slots. If you use the default, Visualizer puts the first nine graphs you close on that page (Page 1). When you close a tenth graph, Visualizer creates Page 2 and puts the graph on that page. For more information, see Selecting graph page layouts.
Creating a new page—To create a new graph page before the current page is full, select Window > Page Layout > New Page. Visualizer creates a new page with the selected page layout, and puts the next graphs you close on that page.To select a different page layout, select the new layout from options on the Page Layout menu before closing any graphs. While you can't change the layout once a graph is on a page, you can create a new page and move the graph to it.
For more information, see Changing graph pages.
- Selecting a new page layout—Select a new page layout from options on the Page Layout menu before the current page is full, to automatically create a new page with the selected layout.
Selecting graph page layouts
Visualizer supports several predefined page layouts, from a single graph per page, to multiple graphs in different configurations. Select one of the illustrated page layouts from the Page Layout menu. Visualizer also supports a custom page layout.
- Select Page Layout > Custom.
- Draw the graphs for the custom page.
- Rearrange and resize the graphs (using Windows conventions) until they're arranged the way you want them.
- Select Window > Close Windows to place them on the custom page in the same arrangement as they were on the screen.
- Select Window > Page Layout > New Page.
The Page Layout options are as follows:
Displaying graph pages
- To display pages, select Window > Page Select.
- Select one of the following:
- Page N to display a specific page
- All Pages to display all graph pages
- More Pages to display a scrollable selection list of all the pages available
The pages currently on the main window (minimized or maximized) are check marked.
Changing graph pages
You can change graph pages in two ways.
- To rearrange graphs on a page or move graphs to another page:
- Display one or more pages you want to rearrange.
- Click the graph you want to move. This highlights the graph border.
- Drag the graph to the new location. Press Ctrl while you drag the graph to copy it. The cursor changes to a miniature graph as you drag the graph.
- To use Edit menu commands:
- Display one or more pages you want to change.
- Click a page slot.
- Use the Edit menu commands as follows:
- Cut—Cut the contents of the selected page slot and move it to the Clipboard.
- Copy—Copy the contents of the selected page slot to the Clipboard.
- Paste—Paste the contents of the Clipboard to the selected page slot.
Delete —Delete the contents of the selected page slot.
Accessing graphs from a page
Even after putting a graph on a page, you can access it to change graphic options, as long as you don't paste it from the Clipboard. If the database you used as a source to draw the graph still exists, you can also change data selections.
If you drew the graph from a database other than the one currently selected, Visualizer has to access that database before making any data selection changes. See Selecting-data for more information. When you close the graph, Visualizer returns the changed graph to the page.
- Display the page where you put the graph.
- Double-click the graph's page slot.
Inserting blank pages in a series
You can insert a new, blank page in a series of pages. When you make a page active by selecting it, the menu entry Window > Page Layout > New Page toggles to Window > Page Layout > Insert Page n. Visualizer inserts the blank page n before the active page and increments by one the active page number and those that follow.
