Exporting graphs and projects
You can export Visualizer graphs and projects for use in other applications including the Web (see Publishing-graphs-to-the-web). Export from the File menu saves time because you can copy multiple graphs to multiple files at one time without using the Windows Clipboard. Using the copy function requires the Clipboard.
You can select from a variety of file formats (HTML, PNG, Bitmaps, and so on), which offer a great deal of cross-application versatility. You can export individual graphs, graph pages, or entire projects by specifying one file name.
To export graphs and projects
Select a graph, graph page, or project to export as follows:
To export
You need to
Selected graphs
Open or make current by clicking each graph you want to export.
Graph pages
Open the page you want to export and then do one of the following:
- Make sure that the graph on the page is not selected.
- If the page contains multiple graphs, make sure that none is selected.
Projects
Close all graphs.
- Select File > Export.
- When the Export As dialog box is displayed, specify a file name and file type.
- Specify a location for the exported files and click OK.
If you are exporting multiple graphs (on a page or in a project), Visualizer gives each graph a unique file name using the first six characters of the specified file name and appending an internally assigned number to each graph.
To export graphs to the Web from a template
- Select File > New Project > From Template to select the appropriate template.
- Once all graphs are drawn, select Window > Close Windows.
Close Windows prevents you from accidentally focusing on just one graph. If you focus on one graph, Visualizer exports only one graph. - Select File > Export.
- Specify a file name and file type.
- Specify a location for the exported graphs and click OK.
If you're exporting multiple graphs (on a page or in a project), Visualizer gives each graph a unique file name using the first six characters of the specified file name and appending an internally assigned number to each graph. - Use a utility such as FTP to transfer the exported graphs to the Web.
Positioning the imported graph in the new application
When you import a Visualizer graph into another application, the graph is placed on the page in the same relative position that it appeared on the Visualizer graph page. For example, if the graph was in the upper left-hand corner of the Visualizer graph page, it is displayed near the upper left-hand corner of the application page when imported.
