Automatic merging of multiple UIE runs

You can merge UIE run results on the BMC Performance Predictor for Mainframes manually. You can also set up automatic merging of data from multiple UIE runs produced by multiple host systems.

This merge is done on your Windows Performance Predictor system. This automatic merging is accomplished using the updated Manual Data Population utility on the Performance Predictor in conjunction with the Microsoft Task Scheduler on your system. The results of an automatic merge include a merged summary file.

By using the updated Manual Data Population (MDP) utility, you can select baselines from multiple UIE runs, produced by one or more host systems. These baselines, stored in multiple directories on your Performance Predictor system (one directory for each UIE host), are described in a configuration file that you create and name using the MDP utility. You can schedule this configuration file to run automatically at a particular time and frequency using your Performance Predictor system’s Task Scheduler.

The following figure shows multiple UIE runs:

The reasons to merge multiple UIE runs on the Performance Predictor are:

  • Not able to process all the RMF/SMF data from your mainframe systems in one run of UIE
  • Non-availability of data when required
  • Not able to consolidate all the RMF/SMF data into one location for processing
