UIE components

The UIE has the following components:

  • Front End—Use this component to perform the following tasks:
    • Define a study
    • Customize a study by creating and editing commands
    • Build JCL to run the back end as a z/OS job
  • Back End—Use this component to perform the following tasks:
    • Analyze commands
    • Read SMF and subsystem data
    • Build models and Visualizer files
  • Publisher—Use this component to perform the following tasks:
    • Watch continuously for a target PC to announce that it wants models
    • Handle restart and retry of model transmission
    • Send models to target PC

We recommend that after a few successful runs, you schedule your front-end created z/OS job to run on a daily.
