Organization of the AGENT_DIST directory on the server machine
From version 8.1.00, the agent and extensions for each platform are kept in a server-version specific directory on the server machine.
This ensures that when upgrading to a new release the agent and extensions from the previous release will be available for cases where it is required to manually distribute a previous version of the agent or extension. One such case would be when a new TrueSight Middleware and Transaction Monitor release no longer supports an older technology version that you may still be using.
If you are upgrading from a release prior to 8.1.00, the top level of the AGENT_DIST directory on the server will retain the files from your previous installation/version. For new or upgrade releases of 8.1.00 or later the agents and extensions will be placed in the folder AGENT_DIST/<version> where <version> is the version of the release being installed.
In future releases, there will be new version directories under the AGENT_DIST directory, enabling you to manage which versions of the agents and extensions are available according to your organization’s needs.
