Distributing the TMTM Extensible Agent and extensions manually
This section describes how to manually distribute the TMTM Extensible Agent and extensions to monitored agent machines. FTP is used as an example transfer protocol as it is the most commonly used, but it is also possible to use other methods to transfer the files, such as with SFTP, HFTP, and FTAM.
In order for the distribution process to work, the agent machine must have an FTP server. Windows includes an FTP client called ftp.exe. After using FTP to distribute the agent, you must manually install the agent on each host.
If you are upgrading an existing agent, stop the agent and extensions before distributing a new agent and extensions. For instructions on stopping agents see the sections on controlling the TMTM Extensible Agent. For instructions on stopping the extensions, see Installing and running performance and availability monitoring extensions.
