To set up a policy using the Create WMQ Connection action

This action will be used with object policies for a WebSphere MQ Queue Manager.

  1. From the Policies tab, click the Policy Actions tab.
  2. From the list of policy action types, click on Administrator_WMQ_Connection. The expression for this policy will be tailored to match WebSphere MQ queue managers that will have the same channel definitions. For example, they will have the same server connection channel name, listener port and authentication records.
  3. Click the Create a New Policy Action icon.
  4. In the displayed dialog box, select Create Administrator WMQ Connection, enter a Name and Description, and click Create.

  5. In the right side of the Policies tab, enter the action details, or channel definition for this action, to define the server connection, as shown below.

    Note

If the channel definitions already exist from previous sessions using mqtool or the Object Repository tab in the Management Console, you can choose to let the policy use those values. Otherwise, you can replace the definitions with the values specified here. If policies are used, it is recommended they be the source of the definitions; select Yes for the Replace existing definitions? option. This enables you to re-apply the policies after changes and have the other methods use the policy definitions.
