BUILDJcl primary command

When tagging is available, you can use the BUILDJcl primary command to process the selected rows of data through Skeleton Tailoring to create a batch job.

Note

If the view contains no tagged rows, the BUILDJcl command cannot be used.

The BUILDJcl primary command invokes the AUTOJCL view where you can select a skeleton JCL member to use for the Skeleton Tailoring process. In the AUTOJCL view you enter the line command BSE (Build and Edit), BSS (Build and Submit), or BSK (Build, Edit and Keep data set) against the row containing the member that you wish to use. The JCL that is created contains values from the rows of data that you tagged for processing.

The following conditions also apply to the BUILDJcl command:

  • After batch processing is invoked through the BUILDJcl primary command or as a selection from the Tag Command options dialog (TAGCmds), the tagged rows cannot be removed and additional rows cannot be tagged.
  • The batch process can be canceled (halted) by exiting the AUTOJCL view. When the batch process is stopped, all tagging information is lost, and the original view is refreshed.
  • BUILDJ is an accepted abbreviation of the primary BUILDJcl command.
  • The BUILDJcl command is not available in SSI mode.
  • There is no confirmation dialog displayed for the BUILDJcl primary command.
