Managing IBM MQ

MainView for MQ supports the following management types, which can be used in any combination.

Management type

Description

MVS

IBM MQ requests are sent directly to the MVS queue managers.

Proxy

IBM MQ requests are sent between the BBI subsystem and a queue manager on a non-MVS system by routing them through a local proxy queue manager on the MVS system.

Agent

IBM MQ requests are sent between the BBI subsystem and queue managers on a non-MVS system by routing them through a Power Module for MQ that is installed on the non-MVS system. Messages are exchanged over a TCP/IP connection.
